The Environmental Social Science and Ecological Impacts (ESSEI) working group seeks to foster interdisciplinary research collaboration among University of Notre Dame and Environmental Change Initiative faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students for rigorous analysis of social-ecological impacts of environmental outcomes like climate adaptation and mitigation, forestry sector participation, and rural electrification in diverse contexts.

The overarching goal of the ESSEI Working Group is to build a team that can sustain long-term research collaboration around pressing environmental and social-ecological issues pertinent to climate change, environmental sustainability, global food security, and global health in specific countries in Africa (Malawi, Zimbabwe, Liberia, and Sierra Leone), Asia (Bhutan), and Latin America (Brazil, Ecuador, and Guatemala).

The ESSEI Working Group is funded by the Notre Dame Environmental Change Initiative.
